Q1. How long does a nurse stay? A1. The length of the nurse’s visit may be flexible when meeting an immediate need, but usually the nurse’s stay does not exceed three hours. Mother and infant care cases may exceed this time frame but must be arranged in advance. For other cases, if longer service is required and home care remains appropriate, the nurse may assist in arranging for a private duty Christian Science nurse or aide. The nurse’s normal work week is Monday through Friday.
Q2. What are the charges for visiting nurse services? A2. Home visits are $40 per hour in ¼ hour increments, with a minimum charge of $40 during regular hours. Holiday and weekend hours are billed at 1 – ½ times the regular rate. There is no charge for travel time or mileage within New Hampshire. Supplies are billed at cost. Some health insurance policies cover Christian Science care. Medicare does not cover care provided by visiting nurses. Benevolence is available, including a “friendly visit.”
